BLK - Blackcoin Discussion

Think it's time for a Blackcoin (BLK) topic since I've seen the coin mentioned a few times

I've been a member of the Blackcoin community since shortly after the coin launch and BLK is actually the coin that made me made me getting more involved into cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin. I have a lot of respect for rat4. the community, the core team working on the coin and I've been holding BLK since the beginning.

Blackcoin has a very dedicated community with a very motivated Foundation and members regularly attending crypto conventions and meetings to promote the coin and it's community. Blackcoin was also the first altcoin added to the Genesis Bitcoin ATM and it's also listed on several merchant and payment gateway sites and imho has established itself as being "a real cryptocurrency".

Another reason why I support Blackcoin is BlackHalo / BitHalo.

Same as Blackoin itself, Halo is true crypto innovation. When David released the initial Halo beta client it was pretty much something for absolute crypto geeks and to be honest, most likely half of the geeks didn't even get what Halo actually is and what it meant for crypto.

The tech is sure not perfect and perhaps we could even say it's ahead of it's time, but so is Bitcoin. However, the Halo features reveal the true capabilities of the blockchain technology beyond using it as a public ledger to record the transactions of a coin.

This right here is exactly why I am glad to be in this community. Thank you for the information and I think I have some reading to do about Blackcoin. I am really interested in the BlackHalo/BitHalo portions.

Good read and looking forward to more of these threads.

I have a horrible tendency to tunnel vision with coins. I never even read or looked at anything besides BTC until march of last year and then I locked into another project for the rest of the year and am only now starting to look up from my focus and see what else there is in Crypto.

I'm very BTC focused as well and only involved in a couple of coins. There is so many and also so many shitcoins which makes it so hard to spot the good ones unless you spend the time to get involved in their communities Blackcoin was an accident actually I was looking for Darkcoin and google tricked me, glad it did, never looked back

Btw you can stake BLK since it is PoS coin and rat4 is actually the developer who wrote PoS2 which fixed a long standing mailability in the proof-of-work protocol.

Much thanks for the thread! I am a big fan of cryptos and feel that even though BTC is the undisputed heavy weight champ, there is room in the market for some other coins as well. Blackcoin was on my radar to dig into, now I have a reason to dig in. Looking forward to it.

Damn, my whole weekend is going to be digging deeper into a few coins, learning the ins and outs. I don't mind though...i'm kind of a nerd. LOL.

Love the fact that we are getting a bunch of threads on the "other" coins out there. Exactly what almost all the other forums are lacking, this is definitely moving in the right direction. Now, if BTC price would rise so I can purchase my miner do dig into a few of these POW coins.

Dont know all the details of how it works..what i do know is BLK has been good on Cryptsy this week. Its plateau was at around .00009, but i got most of mine around .000085. It peaked around .000105 but any sales above .0001 were good. Not so impressive individually but if you trade then those ratios couldnt be ignored. It was in my top 10 all week & will be in there again next week.

Wrote this last bit ^ just before the XPY Dump & i got distracted. It peaked today over .0071 & came back to this. Those numbers were off as i was quoting the wrong coin.. that is what happens when i am switching back & forth between threads..sorry. That days buy (16th) was .00609 & the earlier blocks i got in starting the week before as it it dropped. Missed the Dec. rush, as i didnt realize DRK had much volatility at that point. Did my research & decided to buy after. Now it is peaking & i am not currently buying blocks just daytrades till it goes over the .0073 wall. Not greedy but didnt get the volume i wanted, so have to make up for it by selling higher.

What i also like about BLK is its what i call a trifecta coin.. You can trade it against Not only BTC but also LTC & XRP on Cryptsy. Meaning If you already got one of those coins you do not have to sell them for BTC then go buy your BLK..you can get it direct with those coins! & sometimes you actually get a better buy then in the BTC or even the USD market. Often more volatility as well as BTC is such a high value coin & the difference a few satoshi multiplied by say 10,000 can add up quickly. While the other lower valued coins offer a closer match in value & when you are buying large amounts the .00000001 amount much more accurate & forgiving.

Indeed. BLK has it's own markets. You can also trade the BLK market on Excoin which was developed by BlackWaveLabs. I like their proof-of-reserve and the UI.

Ok, so I'm just waiting for the bc blockchain to download then I'm going to get that blackhalo thingy and thoroughly confuse myself with all the features...will be depending on you lot to help me untangle my brain once it gets knotted up

~9,000 is a good entry for BLK. The coin is still undervalued so any entry bellow or around 9,000 is a good point. I'm staking my wallet as well and also mine on the BlackcoinPool.

I got my Halo synced but not online. You can't stake the qt and run halo at the same time. Need to check out cold staking with Halo by running it on two systems and linking up a multi-sig address.

I picked up 20K or so coins. will try to get more in the dips, BLK is undervalued atm but the prices may drop further with the LTC pump, XPY failing, and BTC at low value but rising, this may be a fun ride.

Typical, I get a few black and the price drops off the cliff. Had I not brought loads of BC holders would have been celebrating today

BLK is without question one of the best Alts out there.

There are some issues in its world but as a technology I wouldn't have a problem recommending it.

Price to buy in? 7500-8400 sats rough guesstimate

Hmmm, I just looked and imho 8,500 satoshi is a good average for BLK. It's always a good idea to check out a coins chart for the last week or even the last month to get somewhat of an estimate what the coins average price should be.

I bought into many coins at their peak in the past. You live and learn

Are you staking your wallet as well?

@Vizique it's good to see a Blackcoiner around here

BLK is and has always been my favorite altcoin as well. The community and their projects are great and imho the coin is still undervalued.

I agree. Though BLK is wider spread than many other alts it needs this little extra push to climb up the market cap to join the ranks of LTC, dodge, BitShares and co. Cause that's where BLK should be imho.
