Maybe we could dedicate this thread for new revnue generating ideas. Proposals can be discussed and voted upon.

Here is my first idea:

For profit raffles.

A percentage of the raffle pot will go towards GHcoin revenue.
Who doesn't like raffles!?!

I am full of ideas i have plenty more.

Like it. We'd have to setup a dedicated address for it and lay out the procedures and rules for those raffles to ensure it's all straight forward and transparent.

I can add 2x Rockminers R3 for raffle.

We agree on market value of the product and shipping fee.
Escrow Wallet for raffle funds.
Hold funds until winner receive his price
Pay seller, extra profits goes to GHcoins. Winner is happy

Depending on interest we can do a monthly raffle.

I was thinking about mining stuff, but also popular electronics like PS4 XBOX tablets etc etc.

Hold a PS4 raffle, and i will gladly put up .085 in BTC for a chance to win it.

State and Local governments in the US.........
To be legally in compliance is such a pain in the ass that I gave up on hosting raffles awhile ago on HT (which was a shame since folks really seemed to like them )

Since GH is outside of the US, maybe there are ways around that.
In that case, let me know as I have plenty of experience promoting and tracking raffles in the past

Since GH is based outside the US, they are bound by that countries laws. It would also have to be run by someone outside of the US since that person could still be held liable for running a raffle.

As bad as it sounds, there are states that can't have church raffles or run bingo games because of the law.

I still don't mind providing friendly advice to whoever is running it though!

As long as no one complains to the state, depending on if they can find out which state you live in and your proper name, there really shouldn't be any issue.

I've already let enough folks know publicly I live in Pittsburgh, PA that the field could be narrowed down fairly easily from there.........

PA is quite ass-backwards and I already deal with them enough with other ventures that I don't need anything to do with crypto mixing in

Here is what I would propose if Raffles are to become part of GHcoin.

Someone or a group of members needs to step up to run the raffles and they are ultimately responsible to lay out the rules, conditions and the actual procedure of how raffles are run. We could call them (badge them) as RaffleMasters. The GH core team wont be liable for the raffles but rather oversee them.

Each raffle that is organised would then need to be run by the RaffleMaster(s) and they are to collect those funds into a dedicated address that can be audited by the community which "they" control.

Once the raffle has completed the proceeds would have to be send to a dedicated and signed GH address to get accounted and included in the GH dividend payments.

I can setup the GH address and sign it put the raffle organizers need to setup their own address to manage raffles.

Thoughts?

Ok here is my thinking of how to do this, and how to generate another revenue stream.

We set up a crypto auction site, and the raffle item listed, is bid upon.
meaning we bid until we have collected above asking, the winner will be random chosen from among the bidders. each bid for .085 is an entry.
The winner has won the auction, not a raffle per se.

The crypto auction site, will generate revenues if we all decide to sell other non raffle items as well.
i hate ebay and paypal.

UPDATE:

I was also thinking if the prize is new- the winner gets the BTC to purchase it.
So for example if i win an XBOX i go and buy it, and i get reimbursed for it.

no one has to buy something or ship it to someone else that way. you buy it yourself, the raffle covers expenses the rest gets kicked back to ghcoin.

I'll happily donate www.blackauctions.eu to that. Or better the setup as is under a new domain. It has a BTC payment gateway and I have little use for it or better no time.

So if some of you get organized on the raffles or even on running the entire auction site with a portion of the end of auction fees going towards GHcoin, let me know.

It also has reverse auctions, fixed price listings, wanted ads (wanted listings) and a ton of other settings, features and options.

yup ghcoin takes a cut of all sales.

the only thing the site/ auction / raffle site would need is exposure. so there would have to be a prominent banner on ghcoin to advertise the auctions.

i am ready to do this right now- the one thing that is missing is exposure.

if we put up an xbox for raffle, if you bid for it, if you win, you buy it yourself and you get refunded, then ghcoin keeps the rest.

open up the site, and tie it in to gethashing so people can create listings, and i am certain people will begin listing items immediately.

do you like my idea of the raffle auction?

so we list an xbox as an auction listing, a raffle / bid entry costs .04 BTC you can enter as many times as you like. every .04 assigns you a new entry number.

after we reach a certain amount of entries we spin the wheel, and a random bidder wins.

they buy their own xbox, and they are reimbursed in BTC- the rest of the raffle pot is a distribution to all ghcoin owners.

lets see how popular this is after we do it once to see if it is worth doing in the future.

I do, I'm just not sure the auction site has an auction type which allows for that kind of bidding. We'll have to check that out but a GHauctions site in general is not a bad idea. I'm sure we can also find a raffle repository some place.

the only reason for the workaround is that peddler and leo had mentioned that US raffles were hard to do?

crypsty holds crypto (no fiat) raffles every month, and so do many other US based crypto sites, so i figured a crypto auction raffle might be easier to pull off.

every bid would be in increments of .04 BTC and each bid would represent an entry. the winner would not be the highest bidder but a bidder chosen at random.

also buying your own item means less work for gethashing. no customs forms, no shipping lines, etc etc

Nice idea.

Could it be done on its own site in a similar way that some of the faucets out there operate... The ones that generate a random number/winner to award the winner the prize?

The actual prizes wouldn't need to be anything more than an image and price.
