Sorry for the double post, but I have been thinking about how to make this work (since I really love hosting raffles 👍)

I think there is a way using colored coins for this purpose that could give us some leyway, but I need to churn though the idea and do some more research!

There are different rules about exchanges of "property" which make pure raffles still difficult, but there are loopholes to everything.

Otherwise why would we need lawyers 😄

Hello, I'm reviving this topic to get opinions, feedback, and pushback about the idea of starting an amazon affiliates group for GetHashing.

Basically, the idea involves setting up an amazon affiliates account, posting reviews of products to a thread on GetHashing, and then forwarding any revenue to either GHX payouts or the GH Development Fund. Amazon affiliates programs also allow for a generic referral link which would be posted at the top of the review thread, so if someone were browsing Amazon after visiting the thread, their purchases would earn the referral.

The affiliates account would have to be managed by a third party since GH themselves only deal in bitcoin in order to maintain transparency. Technically speaking, this would not be a function of GetHashing, but would be donations to the GetHashing addresses.

So, thoughts?

I like the idea.

How would you go about providing transparency on the referrals / sales made through the affiliation with Amazon? Do they have an API and does that API return the data for referrals and sales? If not then the "transparency" would be more of a "trust" thing with whomever manages it since referral reports can be easily manipulated.

Do you mean manipulated in terms of modified before posting or manipulated in terms of whoever manages the account can do things without them being detected?

I have not yet found a way to do this in a trust-less manner, but I was considering an option of giving multiple people access to the account. It does raise the risk of someone stealing (just numerically), but it also raises the chance of that being detected by one of the other participants. Collusion among all of the people would be possible I suppose, but trusted auditors is the only thing I can think of (so far).

Generally, most raffles in the US have to charitable raffles. This means a non-profit has to manage and run the raffle, and may conduct raffles to raise funds for beneficial or charitable purposes in the state. Also, there are rules on how much you can collect in a year before you have to register/report earnings to the state (ie VA requires registering and reporting for expected raffle revenue grossing 40k in a year).

We could start an organized social media blitz promoting GetHashing. Anyone do YouTube videos? A GetHashing YouTube channel/vlog could bring in some revenue. It could be a weekly recap of events or whatnot. Same thing with Blogger.

But what if, during the hangout, a webcam accidentally turned on and we realized you're always naked when on the computer? It would be so scarring, it could destroy GetHashing!

Hangouts are always fun.
The hangouts GAW once had should have been a red flag as they were always so awkward................like they were hiding something and half believing what they were saying themselves.

That said, the wife frowns at involvement with crypto, especially around hangouts but I would still lurk if there was one

Well when suggesting a hangout I don't mean a GAW style one to hype around. I think a GHcloud Q&A followed by an open Q&A could be fun. Explaining and talking about GHcloud would be sooo much easier than trying to explain it in writing. At least for me.
