I will be moving the forums to a new server over the next 24 hours.

THE FORUMS WILL BE PLACED INTO READ-ONLY MODE

When the forum is in Read-Only mode the migration will have started, and once we are certain that the forums are working as they should on the new platform, we will change DNS.

THE ORIGINAL FORUM AT THIS POINT WILL REMAIN IN READ-ONLY MODE

When your local DNS has changed, you will see the forums are no-longer in read-only mode, and you will be on the new server.

The server has been migrated, some of you will be proxied through the old server until your DNS catches up, at which point the site will speed up drastically (nothing I can do about this!).

Some of us are actually very adept at managing systems migration, testing and deployment

The whole downtime was around 20 minutes (and that had a "Forum Maintenance" page on it), and when the site came back up, it was proxied from the old server to the new server whilst DNS updated across the web

I don't believe you. Everyone knows that a simple forum migration takes at least 3 days, and at least half the posts are lost in the process.
