Happy new year! Slight rise in dash price, and they're planning a marketing campaign using the new budgeting system. I never hold out much hope for marketing crypto but a self-funding network is a neat thing to experiment with.

A special dividend of 14,531 Satoshi per MNX has been issued for all MNX owners.

A bit of explanation is probably required.

So this special dividend came from that little portion at the bottom of all the payout posts that says "I am currently still acting as the exchange to save on txn costs". Essentially, to save on txn costs and exchange fees I have been personally funding the MNX payouts in BTC and "buying" the DASH. This doesn't really benefit me, but it does benefit MNX.

Anyway, in the last 24 hours there was a huge rise in DASH prices. Given that DASH was at a higher rate than we have seen since last August, I sold some of the DASH I had bought from MNX. This sale produced a 0.145312 BTC "profit" which I have decided to send out as a dividend. I know we've all had a hard time with the price drop of DASH, and this is such a long-term investment anyway so I wanted to reward those who are still with it after 8 months

So here's the disclaimer: I make no promises this will ever happen again and no-one should factor this event into any decisions they make about this asset. This essentially amounts to a donation on my part, and is not part of the standard MNX operation.

Hopefully we keep seeing the DASH price increase. There's a lot of interesting ideas and talk on the dashtalk forums right now. :-)

rdyoung and I started MNX together, but outside of the occasional chat when we're having node problems, MNX is pretty much just running in the background. I have all access required for payouts, so there's not really any interaction.

I tried to reach out via slack, but I know he hasn't been on that in a long time.

Apparently I was moving too fast and sent the dividends to the asset address instead of from them as a dividend. sigh. The good news is, no bitcoin was lost and it's all still in MNX controlled addresses.
